Twentieth Amendment is adopted by Congress in Washington, D.C.

March 2, 1933

Congress approves the amendment, which sets the terms for the president and members of Congress, with the president’s term beginning on January 20th and those in Congress on January 3rd. It is ratified on January 23, 1933, and declared in effect on February 6, 1933.
